Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) Active Directory Federation Services provides users with single sign-on access to systems and applications located across organizational boundaries. Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) Provides directory services for directory-enabled applications without incurring the overhead of domains and forests and the requirements of a single schema throughout a forest. It was formerly known as Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM).
